There should still be some form of redundancy in the system but it can be done with relative ease.
Just give every building a ton of solar panels and sealed lead acid batteries and they'll be fine for most oi their needs, couple this with increased wind farm production and that's the energy needs sorted. The nuclear option is a dead end backed by capitalist bastards who are trying to keep people paying for a resource for power rather than having a cheap and readily available resource that has no ongoing cost and has little in the way of maintenance costs. Actually I do, I am also aware of how much space everyone has on their roof, even in a block of flats if everyone had as many panels as their roof can handle it would drastically reduce the amount of land that's currently used for solar farms.
